The lesson is differentiated to support lower ability students but also push those more able to question whether Books I-IV of the Odyssey were added to the poem years after it was first created. One a commentary question from a short passage and second, an extended essay on the role of the Gods in Book V. Support sheets and writing frames are included on the PowerPoint and a planning worksheet has been created to support students planning and writing their extended essay. Students then create a storyboard of how Odysseus got the scar to reinforce this part of the poem and finally reflect on the impact the meetings with Penelope have on the character of Odysseus.
